My Choice Medical Center is committed to serving the needs of all women, regardless of location and/or proximity to our offices. For clients located at a distance, we are happy to assist with travel arrangements and hotel accommodations. We are also willing to work within necessary travel schedules, including early morning, evening, or weekend appointments to ease and expedite your time away from home.

A woman has the right to choose when and whether to get children. We recognize that privilege and provide the care, support, and confidentiality you deserve when going through an abortion.

We are a private abortion clinic that has provided healthcare and abortion services to women since 2002. We incorporate technology, expertise, professionalism, compassion, cleanliness, and comfort into our practice, to make us a safe haven to run to when you need abortion services.

We offer quality patient care services designed to meet your individual needs. We have minimal time waiting hours, meaning we serve you within a short time of visiting our offices.

Our payments are fixed – we do not have additional and hidden costs beyond the price we quote to you based on the services you need and your gestational age.

We do not support insurance, but we can prepare a bill to submit to your insurance provider. However, you can pay through cash or credit card.

What you need to Know about Abortion in Texas

While abortion is legal in Texas, the state has several restrictions and requirements before getting the procedure. One of the laws, especially if you are a minor, is the need for parental consent.

The law requires that you obtain written consent from your parents to proceed with the abortion. You can request a judicial bypass from a local judge if you cannot get the consent letter for reasons such as fear of abuse.

A judicial bypass is an authorization that allows minors to have an abortion without the consent or knowledge of their parents. The judge will analyze the facts of your case before he or she can authorize the procedure.

Texas makes it illegal to have an abortion after 20 weeks of gestational age. Therefore, we provide our services for women whose gestational period is 0 to 15 weeks. However, we can refer you to a facility that can take care of you.

An exception to the rule is if you need the procedure to save your life or the fetus has a severe irreversible deformity.

We ensure that we follow the state’s regulations, but we maintain our compassionate, caring, and professional attitude when providing our services.

Our goal is not to dissuade you from your decision, but to help and support you with what you choose for yourself.

Our Services

A woman has the right to choose when and whether to get children. We recognize that privilege and provide the care, support, and confidentiality you deserve when going through an abortion.

We offer a range of abortion-related services at our Texas Abortion Clinic. Some of our services include:

  • Medical abortion
  • Surgical abortion
  • VIP Concierge services
  • Pre- and post-abortion care and education
  • Follow up exams
  • Referral services

The type of abortion you choose will depend on your gestational age and whether you have had a failed procedure. Let us dig deeper into each of the services.

Medical Abortion

Medical abortion is a non-invasive abortion done using pills. It is ideal if your pregnancy is below ten weeks (not more than ten weeks from your last period). We will give you the pills to use, and you can take them in the comfort and security of your home. Before giving you these pills, we have to do the following:

  • Fill the necessary paperwork with your information and medical history (this information is confidential and used for providing you with our services, and as a reference in case of emergencies).
  • Conduct a pregnancy test to confirm your pregnancy
  • Conduct an ultrasound to confirm that your pregnancy is growing inside the uterus and that the gestational age is ten weeks or less. An ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate care.
  • Conduct blood tests to check the level of your pregnancy hormones, blood type, and rhesus factor. Women with a negative rhesus factor require an injection to prevent their bodies from fighting against the pregnancy. (Such a reaction can affect future pregnancies).
  • We will give you a pill at the office to begin the process and the rest for later use.
  • Provide instructions on how to use the pills and what to expect.

Medical abortion is a safe procedure. However, we insist on an appointment after two weeks so that we can conduct an ultrasound to confirm the procedure was successful.

You might not qualify for a medical abortion if:

  • You have a bleeding disorder.
  • You suffer from severe diseases of the liver, kidney, or lungs.
  • You have an ectopic pregnancy
  • You have an IUD
  • You are allergic to the pills used for abortion

Surgical Abortion

We also offer surgical abortion or Dilation and Curettage services if your pregnancy is between 5 and 14 gestational weeks. Unlike medical abortion, you will receive this procedure at our inpatient facility. Some of the activities to expect include:

  • Completing the necessary paperwork
  • Blood tests to determine the level of pregnancy hormones and your blood type
  • An ultrasound to measure your gestational age
  • Conducting the procedure

Before we start the procedure, we have to medicate you for relaxation and reducing pain. You might still experience some cramping during the process, but it is similar to painful menstrual cramps.

You can bring a companion along to stay with you during the procedure and drive you home afterward. You also have the choice to forego the medication if you need to drive yourself home.

While you can resume normal activities within a day or two of the abortion, you should avoid strenuous activity such as vigorous exercise for at least two weeks after the procedure. You should also come in for a follow up two weeks after the abortion.

VIP Concierge Services

We offer VIP Concierge services tailored to the needs of high-profile individuals, celebrities, and public figures who wish to maintain the utmost privacy. Our Texas Abortion Clinic VIP care package includes:

  • Total privacy (we close our facility to give you the extra privacy and attention you need)
  • Dedicated staff to serve all your needs
  • A private and VIP abortion experience
  • Booking for flights, travel arrangements, accommodations and personal care you need while accessing our services

Follow up Exams

We also insist on a follow-up visit two weeks after either medical or surgical abortion. The visits allow us to monitor the success of your procedure and determine whether you need secondary post-abortion care. Here is a list of our follow-up activities:

  • A physical exam to examine both the uterus and the cervix
  • A blood test to check for anemia and your HCG hormone levels
  • Counseling on birth control to prevent future unwanted pregnancies

We recommend that you contact our offices immediately if after the procedure you experience symptoms such as:

  • Severe bleeding includes passing clots (larger than a golf ball) for more than two hours, soaking two large pads continuously for two hours, or heavy bleeding for twelve continuous hours)
  • You have signs of infection such as muscle aches, headaches, malaise, and dizziness.
  • Severe abdominal cramps that do not respond to medication or pain therapy
  • Hot flushes or a fever higher than 100.4° F for more than four hours
  • Vomiting for more than four hours
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Sudden swelling of the belly
  • Increased or smelly vaginal discharge
  • Pain, swelling, and redness in the genitalia

Referral Services

Our referral services help our clients connect with other reproductive health providers who deal with different areas of abortion care. For example, if your gestational age is above 15 weeks, we will refer you to another facility that offers abortion services for women above 15 weeks gestation.

We also offer counseling services before and after the procedure to ascertain that you receive the right information about what to expect during the procedure, the pregnancy options you have, and what to expect after the procedure. We offer counseling to individuals who feel depressed after the abortion, so feel free to call if you experience depression after an abortion.

Pre- and Post-Abortion Counseling

The decision to terminate a pregnancy is a complex and emotionally draining one. It is also a personal decision that you do not have to go through alone.

We are a Texas Abortion Clinic that understands the nature of parenting and the mental, physical, and financial preparedness required before making such a life-changing decision.

Our counseling services are not designed to guilt-trip you into keeping your pregnancy; we offer truthful information about abortions, the procedure, and your life after the procedure to help you make an informed decision based on your interests, plans, and convictions.

We also counsel you on other pregnancy options you can consider, such as parenting, abortion, or adoption. We provide a caring and non-judgmental environment where a caring and compassionate team surrounds you. We also offer our support for the decision you make.

Our support and counsel extends even after the abortion procedure. We understand that every woman handles abortion differently. You might be prone to regret and depression after the abortion, during which we encourage you to reach out and receive help.

It is also hard to talk about your situation for fear of judgment or ridicule. However, our trained staff offers a listening ear to the positive and negative emotions you experience after the procedure. You should acknowledge the emotions you experience after an abortion and know that it is okay to reach out for help.

Reach out to our Texas Abortion Clinic if you need to share your experience or feel overwhelmed after an abortion.

As our pre- or post-abortion counseling, we offer you advice on birth control options to help you stay on top of your reproductive health and avoid another unplanned pregnancy.

What to Expect After an Abortion

Your experience after an abortion is unique and will depend on the type of abortion you had. You might experience the following after the abortion:

  • Vaginal bleeding (it may include clots for the first few hours after a medical abortion)
  • Cramping
  • Spotting
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The bleeding will lighten with time and should have entirely stopped by six weeks. Most women receive their period about six weeks after the procedure, and it might be heavier than their regular flow.

Avoid using tampons or douching after an abortion to reduce the risk of infections and complications.

We encourage our patients to use a birth control method as soon as possible to prevent an unplanned pregnancy.
